Iberville Parish Schools Performance Profiles Increase with Frog Street’s Support

Teachers had trouble during the pandemic juggling both in-person and virtual instruction. Frog Street provided a custom training program which helped increase both performance profile and CLASS scores.

Iberville Parish Schools are a community network of public school, Head Start and childcare classrooms. These programs operate together to provide the full continuum of learning for their youngest children. There is a seamless transition between the childcare and Head Start programs using Frog Street Infant and Toddler to the school system using Frog Street Threes and Pre-K.

The Iberville Parish School system was awarded the Frog Street Excellence in Education Award. They have demonstrated that they have excelled in using the Frog Street curriculum to meet the unique needs of the children they serve, helping to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond! The hard work and dedication of this team are an inspiration to all educators, and they are an excellent example of an unwavering commitment to providing high-quality education to our youngest learners.

The Challenge

When the pandemic began, the teachers at Iberville Parish Schools recorded Frog Street lessons and uploaded them to a YouTube channel for children to watch virtually from home. Once they were allowed to have in-person instruction, teachers led in-person and virtual instruction simultaneously in their classrooms. They also provided recorded lessons to accommodate those families who could not attend the scheduled virtual lessons. Teachers faced the challenge of juggling both in-person and virtual instruction while working to meet all students’ needs.

The Solution

Frog Street developed a custom training program for the Iberville Parish Schools to help teachers provide high-quality virtual lessons. The teachers also utilized online resources provided by Frog Street during the pandemic. The administration at Iberville Parish Schools continued to provide teachers with professional development through online coaching during the pandemic. Frog Street coaches were very accommodating during this time.

To make up for any lost learning time for children, teachers utilized Frog Street Kids’ Club Curriculum during their summer program. Frog Street Family Learning Fun backpacks were also distributed to all students to utilize during quarantine and with virtual lessons.

The Impact

Due to the coaching provided in both school and childcare settings, Iberville Parish Schools performance profiles issued by the state Department of Education continue to increase. Scores increased from 4.79 to 5.16, and they now have 2 sites rated Excellent, 9 rated Highly Proficient, 2 rated Proficient and only 2 remain Approaching Proficient. According to CLASS data, their school sites’ overall scores increased from 5.56 to 5.6.
